Dexter the Tough book review by Reporter E Heuer
Dexter lives with his grandma in a little town. His father is very sick and Dexter’s mother has to stay with his father to help him. It’s Dexter’s first day of school, and he already hates 4 people; the janitor for making the floor so slippery, the teacher because she is a fun teacher, the kids when they laughed at him when he slipped on the floor, and the secretary for leaving him in the middle of the hallway alone. Later that day, Dexter beat up a kid in the bathroom for no reason. Then, Dexter has to ask the kid for his name, because he is writing a story about the fight he had with the kid. The kid forgives Dexter and sees Dexter as his friend. But Dexter doesn’t want to be friends with anybody yet, so he acts like he doesn’t even know the kid. Later, Dexter finds that it is nice to have a friend, even if he is the dorkiest boy in the school. Dexter becomes friends with the kid and doesn’t care what others think. If this sounds interesting to you, head to the library and grab the book this summer!
