Do You Think Spelling Should be Counted in Social Studies?
Yes! It should be Counted!

No! It should NOT be counted!

I think you should be graded on spelling for social studies homework.
First, you will be graded on big vocabulary words on tests when you get older, so it’s good to practice now. Second, you will get good at English when you do it during social studies. Third, over time, you might like spelling and get good at it. Finally, if you practice spelling and get good at it you can win big spelling bees and contests. If you spell well, your teacher might put you in a gifted class for spelling. Believe me, spelling being counted on social studies is the right way to go. |
We shouldn’t be graded on spelling when we are doing social studies homework because you might want more content to be graded more than the spelling. Would you rather know a big event or know how to spell it? You would want to remember what happened in that big event than how to spell it.
Another thing is that there might not be someone with you at all times to help you spell words. You also might not have enough time. Lastly, sometimes it takes up so much time to look up the word you might forget what word you are trying to look up. You can get hooked on the word that you are trying to find and your creativity will disappear. Therefore, we should not be graded on spelling when it is social studies homework. |
